TCTF: Commission Proposes Limited Prolongation to Support Agricultural Sector

The Commission has sent a draft proposal to Member States for consultation, outlining a of the State aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework (TCTF) as regards the agriculture sector. This extension aims to facilitate continued support for the primary agricultural sector, which remains vulnerable to the effects of the crisis.

The proposal follows a clear call for action from the European Council, which recently underlined the crucial role of a resilient agricultural sector in ensuring food security and the EU's strategic autonomy.

With the TCTF rules concerning agriculture set to expire in June 2024, the proposed extension would allow Member States to continue to provide limited amounts of aid to farmers where needed and ensure that crisis support measures are implemented effectively. As part of the consultation process, Member States now have the opportunity to provide feedback on the Commission's draft proposal.
