On 27 March 2024, the Commission has greenlit a €900 million French measure designed to support the production of heat and fuels from biomass, including synthetic gas and biochar, for industrial processes, as well as for the production of liquid fuels from biomass and renewable hydrogen for industrial processes and transportation.
The measure will provide direct grants to cover part of the eligible investment costs and will be accessible to new installations and projects that show significant acceleration or scaling-up.
The measure fully aligns with the objectives of the REPowerEU Plan and the Green Deal Industrial Plan, as well as with Article 107(3)(c) TFEU and the conditions set out in the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework.
